in memory of Aaron Bushnell

I am an active member

of life. In duty to mankind

no longer am I complicit

in their death. I engage

extremes to rekindle

the normal, burn away

complication, nuance

refuse to live when others die

before, during and after demise.

To die screaming

is to kill silence

in my final moments

let your lungs inhale

deception, exhale

awareness, see me

beyond flesh and bone

my words reborn

as phoenix, diamonds

purified by flame

tongue relieved of burden
